Our memories of Lena are two-fold: at dinner parties with friends and at monthly book club meetings. We met regularly in each others’ houses for dinner with lots of laughter, discussion and leg-pulling. Lena always threw herself whole-heartedly into politics, literature, Dawlish personalities and local news. She was never dull. She enjoyed her wine. At Book Club her comments were perceptive and enlightened and often she reached the real essence of a book, quite often seeing aspects others missed. She leaves a huge unfillable gap in our lives. It was a pleasure to count her our friend.
